Larry Nuzum

A cornerstone of Chancey Architecture since its founding in 1989, Larry Nuzum became a Partner in 2004 after serving as VP and Senior Project Manager. As Partner-in-Charge for Senior Housing, Mixed-use Commercial, Multi-Family, and Health Care projects, Larry brings unparalleled expertise and leadership to the firm.

Larry’s experience spans senior housing (ALF, ILF, SNF, and Memory Care), mixed-use commercial projects, hospitality, multi-family apartments and condominiums, project due diligence and master planning, industrial warehouses, retail tenant improvements, commercial renovations, and historic rehabilitation/restorations. As an accessibility specialist, he maintains extensive knowledge of ADA, FFHA, and UFAS standards, underscoring his commitment to inclusive, high-quality design.

Throughout his career, Larry has completed numerous professional trainings, including the LEED Training Program at UF, the University of Wisconsin Quality Control Management Program, and specialized code access courses. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and has studied indoor air quality through Dupont. His projects span the U.S. and the Bahamas, encompassing code compliance, specification writing, construction forensics, AHCA health care projects, Veterans Affairs guidelines, HUD projects, and historic restoration.

Larry’s work has earned widespread recognition, including the 2006 Best in American Living Award (Gold) from the National Home Builders Association, the 2002 Jan Abell Historic Preservation/Restoration Award (First Place), the 2002 Aurora Award from the Florida Home Builders Association (First Place), the 2001 Silver Achievement Award from the Home Builders Senior Housing Council, and the 1991 Renovation of the Year Award from Metal Architecture. His decades of experience, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence continue to define the firm’s standard of quality.
